It Is Finished!

RECAP: Wow, this week finally came and now it's gone! I wanted weeks, but it seemed like months, to get my CD entitled "Rock Wit It" from distribution. I planned the date to release the CD in youth group (MURGE, www.MURGE411.com) for the students. I asked my friend Spencer to come out and celebrate the moment with me by doing some of his music too.

Saturday: Did music at an event called "Revelation" in Berkeley Springs, WV. It was sponsored by Youth in Action. I met a lot of cool people there. When the event was over some girls came up to the table and said they have a gift for me. They hand me two packages of chocolate chip cookies. Only question is, "Why are they opened." LOL. Their response was we got hungry during the concert, hahaha. You can see the video footage on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4ipTqpWtvI

Sunday: We had a parent/child dedication for my daughter Jada D'el Sterling at my church and went out to eat afterwards with some family and close friends. Came home and watched the Redskins beat up the Buccaneers.

Monday: Took my son Eli out to Chuck E. Cheese for a well needed "Daddy Day."

Tuesday: 9th grade presentation concerning Abstinence at North Hagerstown High School and went to Alvin and Will's soccer game.

Wednesday: Shaddai Sons CD release party in MURGE. The theme was "Black and White in a Gray World." Coach Parkhurst deliver the message or relative truth, which means if I think it's right then it's right. This mind set is killing our culture! AWESOME MOMENT: my wife surprised me with a cake and a card from the students in MURGE congratulating me on the CD, tear jerker moment.

Thursday: 9th grade presentation concerning Abstience at South Hagerstown High School

Proverbs 31 or Pro 31

Just finished writing a new song for the EP. I have two titles in mind for it "Proverbs 31" or "Pro 31." I am now 2-3 songs away from completing the album. I just need to come up with the artwork, 2-3 songs, the album title & how to package it.

Shaddai Sons TV

Last night I launched another episode of Shaddai Sons TV (www.LiveStream.com/ShaddaiSons). The theme of the episode was "McNair & 4 ways to know you're not ready to date." In total we had about 10 people in and out of the chat room.

I met up with some people who like my vision for the show and want to help. My friend J. Galla and a new friend "Daniel the Lion" a guy who works as a mascot! He's much better than Hatching Pete, I've seen his youtube page. So hopefully in the future you will be seeing more of Shaddai Sons TV and some bigger and better episodes.

Youth service

Wow, tonight was great! On top of being a Christian hip hop artist. I'm a full time youth pastor. Tonight our service was about being a warrior. I showed a funny clip I found on youtube about the misconceptions of Jesus & another of Braveheart. That movie is the bomb! They can take our lives but they'll never take our FREEDOM! If guys don't get excited at that scene, then they need to go and buy pink slippers, lol.

Pay now, play later!

John Maxwell is one of my favorite authors. He has a quote that says if you pay now you can play later, but if you play now you'll pay later. How true that is! In fact I'm finding that out right now.

A couple of months ago I told myself that that I was going to creat my CD by the end of July 09 with XX number of tracks, etc... though I am close to the end of July, I'm not where I want to be CD & recording wise.

The only person I can blame is myself. Can't blame work, family, money, etc... Just the man in the mirror, lol. So now I am on the grind trying to pound out this tracks. Here is my goal: 1 music ministry CD with 7 tracks & 1 school friendly CD with 7 tracks. I still think its possible!

Work it out!

I just went to Planet Fitness with my wife and got two memberships. I'm pretty excited! This gym is opened 24/7 hours and should help me get into shape for the CD release party. It's not about "the look" it's about me setting a goal and time and meeting it. I am going to weigh and measure myself every couple of days and keep records here on blogger.

"Get Cha Walk On"

Just finished recording a new song entitled, "Get Cha Walk On." The basis of the song came from a young lady that I know who is involved in ministry and had a best friend that she talked to all the time. As time went by the two started traveling in different paths. Loving her best friend but loving her God more, she had to make the hard decision. She helped her friend as much as she could but when helping didn't resolve the problems, she had to get her walk on and keep walking with Christ.

Another School Year

It's hard to believe that another school year is coming to a close. When I look back on this past year and think if there's anything that I would change it would be to have developed "Rock Your Mic" a little sooner. But I do believe that the move that we have made to target schools first instead of partnering with local ministry's in the area was a God thing. Many times we as active believers (active in our faith and doing the work of the ministry) have gifts, talents and abilities and we want to run with them. Sometimes we can't proceed because of:
  • Waiting for God's timing. Because His timing is perfect!
  • Waiting for the church to see that there is a need before there becomes a problem.

We have not put a price tag on the ministry of Shaddai Sons because it's hard for us to put a price tag on what God has called us to do. Which in many cases has left us broken, because of being taken advantage of. We have come up with what we thought was a "God price tag" for what we have to offer schools through the platform of "Rock Your Mic."

I guess now that I look back on it God's timing is actually perfect so, I wouldn't change anything (that I can think of) for this past school year.
